Dr. Paskavitz comes to Aruna Bio with 15 years of industry experience after more than a decade in medical practice and research.
Dr. Paskavitz is a board-certified and fellowship trained Behavioral Neurologist and has been involved in the development of numerous therapies for neurodegenerative diseases and was on faculty in the Neurology Department at the University of Massachusetts Medical School before coming to industry.
Dr. Paskavtiz started a brain imaging research lab at UMass using functional MRI to study brain efficiency and drug treatment effects on cognition and motor function in diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, ALS, stroke, and multiple sclerosis and was also an investigator in multiple clinical trials in Alzheimer’s, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease. He then went on to become CNS Imaging Director for PAREXEL developing imaging and image analysis methods for clinical trials in neuro-oncology, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other diseases. Dr. Paskavitz then went on to Vertex Pharmaceuticals in clinical development for their CNS pipeline and also worked on translational imaging studies and digital clinical outcome assessment tools for the pipeline. He joined the biomarker group at Biogen to assist their clinical programs with their imaging and digital clinical outcome assessment development needs. Most recently, Dr. Paskavitz was Senior Medical Director at Sage Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company focused on novel therapies for central nervous system and brain disorders.
He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed his neurology residency and fellowship in behavioral neurology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
