Research Associate II - Molecular Cloning

• Support Aruna’s cloning and cell line development by independently performing: o Common PCR- and restriction enzyme-based cloning techniques o E. coli transformations and screens o Plasmid purification o Mammalian cell line transfections o E. coli and mammalian cell line cataloguing and maintenance o Detection, quantification and assessment of cell line and exosomal modifications, using both cell-free (nanoparticle tracking analysis/Nanosight, western blot, ELISA) and in vitro (flow cytometry, microscopy) techniques • Develop, plan and execute experiments according to established SOPs and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) guidelines • Maintain detailed records of experimental design, execution and results • Troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols • Work collaboratively as part of a broader research team to design and perform experiments to advance corporate strategy • Assist in daily laboratory operation and maintenance including equipment checks, maintaining inventory and ordering reagents and supplies • Analyze data, write reports and present findings to the team and/or company leadership • Assist in in vivo studies, as needed • As experimental and other circumstances demand, occasionally work outside of normal business hours

Research Associate II - Molecular Cloning

We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivated researcher to support Aruna Bio’s Drug Delivery and Discovery team in developing new exosome-based therapeutics for neurological diseases. The candidate will be responsible for designing and executing experiments to genetically modify cell lines in order to support Aruna’s protein-based exosome modification efforts. The ideal candidate will have expertise in molecular cloning via enzymatic digestion and PCR modification, transfection and transduction techniques, protein detection and mammalian cell culture. This is an ideal position for a researcher who possesses a curiosity and passion to explore new areas of biology, envisions new breakthrough therapies, and has a strong desire to gain experience in the rapidly evolving field of exosomes and CNS therapeutics. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to integrate multiple aspects of exosome, drug delivery and genetic modification principles. The selected individual is expected to be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision as a member of a highly collaborative team to execute and prioritize multiple experiments in parallel. The level of education and relevant experience will determine whether the applicant will be hired as a Research Associate II or III.


Required Qualifications: • Demonstrated ability to independently perform and optimize PCR-based molecular cloning • Proficiency in E. coli transformation and screening • Proficiency in common western blot techniques • Proficiency in endotoxin-free plasmid purification • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment • Strong time management, written and verbal communication skills • Proven ability to conduct literature searches on PubMed, Google Scholar, etc. • Proficiency with standard computer software (including Microsoft products and EndNote or similar) as well as statistical software (SAS, R, JMP, GraphPad Prism or similar) • Proven productivity working as a member of a highly collaborative cross-functional team Preferred Qualifications: • Mammalian cell culture including aseptic technique • Mammalian cell line transfection • Packaging viral constructs and transduction of mammalian cell lines
